Helping a family in the Solu...
Sponsoring children to help them get an education is a very rewarding way to make a difference.
As a trekking and climbing leader I work with the same people every year, and I have come to recognise a family deserving support with their children.
I believe that helping to cover only part of the cost of sending the children to an English and Nepali speaking school is a good way to ensure parents - and students- do not become complacent.
This family lives in Lura, in the Solu. The village does not have running water or electricity. The parents are subsistence farmers. The father works as a trekking and climbing guide. He brings in some cash to cover expenses incurred while looking after extended family and children’s education.
The four daughters are respectively 7, 9, 11 and 13 year old. They attend the White Hills English Boarding School in Salleri.
